FAQ: Dolly is becoming Taskrabbit Delivery

Support

Introduction

For years, Dolly has been the go-to marketplace for big-and-bulky moving and delivery services, and it has been an amazing run. We are incredibly proud of our community of users and the millions of items moved on Dollys booked through the platform.

Towards the end of May, the Dolly brand will be retired and, in its place, we will officially be launching Taskrabbit Delivery. Moving forward, Helpers and Hands will have the opportunity to continue providing services to their customers through the Taskrabbit Delivery platform. This FAQ is designed to answer the most common questions from both customers and Helpers as we make this transition.

For Helpers & Hands

The Basics:

Will my payouts change?

No. The Helper payment structure and schedule will remain exactly the same.

Do I need to download a new app?

No. You can continue to use the same Helper app you use today. You will notice changes in the coming weeks, including a rebrand from Dolly to Taskrabbit Delivery. The functionality will remain the same.

Will I still get jobs (tasks) the same way?

Yes. The Taskrabbit Delivery platform will use the same process for bidding and accepting jobs (now called “tasks”). You will still have full control over your schedule, including which tasks you choose to accept.

What should I call the jobs (tasks) I do?

Jobs through Taskrabbit Delivery will be referred to as tasks. Instead of completing a Dolly, you will be completing a task.

What is changing for my clients?

Your clients will be booking tasks through the Taskrabbit Delivery platform. Just like the Helper app, the client-facing app will be rebranded from Dolly to Taskrabbit Delivery at the same time.

What else is staying the same?

You will continue to be able to operate your business through Taskrabbit Delivery with a high degree of autonomy. On Taskrabbit Delivery, Helpers and Hands have full control over (i) their business’s schedule, (ii) the locations in which they choose to operate their business, (iii) the types of services they choose to offer through Taskrabbit Delivery, (iv) the tasks and clients they choose to accept, and (v) how they choose to perform their services. Helpers and Hands maintain their own clientele and are free to provide services through other platforms.

New Terms of Service

In order to use the Taskrabbit Delivery platform, all users - Helpers, Hands and clients - will need to agree to a new Terms of Service with Taskrabbit Delivery Platform LLC. You will be prompted to agree to these terms when you open the Helper app. Your existing Helper Agreement with Dolly Inc. will not apply to your use of the Taskrabbit Delivery platform.

You will be able to find the Taskrabbit Delivery Terms of Service on this page in the coming days. The new platform officially launches after Memorial Day.

  • What you need to do: To use the Taskrabbit Delivery platform, Helpers and Hands must first review and agree to these terms. You will be asked to do so in the Helper app.
  • How to agree: You will receive a prompt in your Helper app to agree to the Taskrabbit Delivery Terms of Service the first time you sign in following the launch of Taskrabbit Delivery.

Expanding Your Business: Becoming a Tasker

Many Helpers have expressed interest in performing other types of work, like furniture assembly, mounting, or minor home repairs, on the main Taskrabbit platform.

While Taskrabbit Delivery and the Taskrabbit Marketplace (for general tasking) currently operate as separate experiences, we encourage you to grow your business as a Tasker!

Head over to the Taskrabbit Registration Support page for more information on becoming a Tasker.

For Customers

The Basics:

What is happening to Dolly?

Dolly is transitioning to Taskrabbit Delivery - a platform through which you can book trusted big-and-bulky moving and delivery services.

When does this change happen?

The new Taskrabbit Delivery platform launches towards the end of May. You will see this reflected in your app and communications at that time.

Will my bookings or account information be affected?

Your account history and information will carry over to the Taskrabbit Delivery platform. You will be prompted to agree to new Terms of Service when you first open the updated app after launch.

Booking & Services:

How do I book a delivery or move going forward?

Booking works the same way as it always has - just through the Taskrabbit Delivery app or website instead of Dolly. Simply download or update the app, log in, and request a task as you would a Dolly booking. You’ll still be matched with experienced Helpers in your area.

Do I need to download a new app?

You do not need to download a completely new app. The Dolly customer app will be updated and transitioned to Taskrabbit Delivery. You may be prompted to update the app if you haven’t already. The core experience and functionality remain the same.

What new services are available through Taskrabbit Delivery?

In addition to the moving and delivery services you’re used to, Taskrabbit Delivery connects you with a broader network of Taskers who can help with furniture assembly, mounting, minor home repairs and more. You can explore these services through the main Taskrabbit website or app.

What will jobs be called now?

Instead of requesting a “Dolly”, you’ll be requesting a “task.” Helpers still have the same equipment and expertise.

Pricing & Payment:

Will pricing change?

Pricing structures are not changing as part of this transition.

Will my payment method still work?

Yes. Your saved payment methods will continue to work on the Taskrabbit Delivery platform.

Terms & Support:

Do I need to agree to new Terms of Service?

Yes. All users will need to agree to the new Taskrabbit Delivery Terms of Service. You will be prompted to do so when you open the updated app for the first time after the platform launches.
